Ingrid S. Moeller

MA, MT-BC

Ingrid Moeller is a Native Houstonian and has been in practice as a music therapist for 15 years. Additionally, she is a trained Neurologic Music Therapist. She received her Bachelors of Music (Harp Performance) from Ball State University and her Masters of Art in Music Therapy from Texas Woman’s University.

She has had the opportunity to work in a variety of therapeutic settings with multiple different patient populations. She started in Philadelphia by creating a music therapy program for an adult day center within Mid County Senior Services.

After working with older adults with dementia for four years, she moved back to Texas. She then worked at the North Texas State Hospital in Wichita Falls where she oversaw the therapeutic recreational programming for the Geri-psychiatric unit. Following this, she moved back to Houston and accepted a position at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center within the Integrative Medicine Department. During her time at MD Anderson, Ingrid was able to work with a treatment team and truly discover the joy and value of creating a holistic plan of treatment for each patient.

Since Fall 2015, Ingrid has been employed with the Harrison Center for Music Therapy, which is a private music therapy clinic here in Houston. She now specializes in work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as children with ADHD. In addition, she sees children, adolescents, and teenagers with emotional challenges.

In addition to treating as a clinician, Ingrid also enjoys speaking about music therapy in the community at large. Locations have included local libraries, volunteer and support groups, pediatric rehab clinics, as well as church communities.

Music therapy provides an exciting opportunity to help clients develop the ability to express themselves creatively and develop the functional skills necessary for daily life using music as a treatment modality. Ingrid feels very strongly that each client presents with different needs and enjoys addressing those individualized needs with creative music based interventions.
